Do I need an SD card for GPS?
Hey, I bought a new GPS from Best Buy. Garmin Nuvi 255W is. And I discovered that has an SD card slot but no SD card with it. So I was wondering do I need to get my SD card for GPS to work? And the only way to load using the car charger it came with? Thank you in advance.
I have no idea what kind of features are on the Nuvi 255W but my 650 can play music and display photos. The SD card can be used for storage or both. On my unit I have topo maps off-road for several states on my SD card. But you do not need the SD card to the GPSr to work. You can load off the USB port of your PC or wall outlet.
