Garmin Colorado 400i good for boating? I will use in the Great Lakes and buy the map of the Great Lakes for the GPS.
the 400i will work for your navigation needs within the lake, but you may have problems with her because she is not waterproof. and some reviews state of the screen is not bright enough for outdoor use. my recommendation is to also look at the Garmin 76CSx, it is designed for marine use, is waterproof (submersible to about 3 ') and can be established for motorboats, sailboats or motor. i own and I am very happy with it. worked well in both our skiff to power 55 mph and our sailing at 6 knots. We are in the PNW and have all the maps for this region USCG loaded on it.
