garmin 2010 map update

garmin gps will not update? Says it is registered to someone else?

I bought a Garmin GPS a week ago and it works fine, but I noticed that my maps were outdated so I bought the 2010 card from the Garmin website. I registered with my GPS coordinates and everything and after I bought the updates when I tried to install on my device, it says it is registered to someone else? The device has never shown any previous indication of any other person registration. I am very confused so please help me! The only thing is that I bought off a guy from Craigslist. The unit works perfectly so the only thing I need is to update the map so I guess I'll call tomorrow and see if Garmin can help me. I have not the slightest evidence that I bought it and I hope they do not screw with me $ 60 something I paid for that.

Garmin and other manufacturers do not support the vendor other than its authorized distributor / retailer and "craigslist" is a "crooks" paradise and a puzzle for infact. They will just say "the problem is beyond their control" period. .. So why not call the first seller or provide information on the unit is already registered, maybe he will give you the login account for the Garmin Web site.
