GPS Sat Nav Entertainment: get your sense of Darth Vader
Your Garmin or TomTom Sat Nav, you're on your way with an efficiency, business as the tone in the language of your choice. However, you should not settle for the ordinary. Why not have some fun and brighten up your satellite navigation with a voice more interesting. Perhaps, instead of the great voices that come standard with your device, you prefer a squirrel idiot, or perhaps you want Han Solo and Darth Vader, you navigate about.
It is easy to download a new personality for your Garmin or TomTom on their respective websites. Imagine a Yeti giving directions, or perhaps the nightmare strange doctor attending her book of magic for the best route! Garmin offers several free voices such as these. For a small fee, you can also download Spongebob or Dora the Explorer. (Quite a surprise for the kids!)
Before you begin, you can download the garmin communicator plugin. This is a free program that lets your computer communicate with your garmin gps. If you do not want to use this program you can download the voice to your computer, then open and extract it. Find the voice in your Garmin. Any way, your Garmin GPS to be connected to your computer via USB.
Once your download is complete, and you're offline GPS Sat Nav on your computer, you can change the voice on your device. Just go to tools, then the voice setting. With a list of your voice garmin screen, scroll down to find the one you want, and then click OK. It's so easy!
If you want to put some your own personality into it, you can download the Garmin Voice Studio. This is a free program that guides you through the registration your own voice to truly customizable Sat nav directions. You might even have a friend or relative record for you!
If you have a GPS TomTom you'll need to visit the official website of TOMTOM and install TomTom Home on your computer. With your TomTom sat nav connected via USB, you can start downloading directly to your GPS sat nav.
On this site, TomTom had a few voices to choose from, including many celebrity voices. (However, there is a small fee to select them.) Your drive should never be bored with Billy Connolly, John Cleese, or Snoop Dogg about to direct you!
